PASTOR'S CORNER
Welcome to St. Ann’s Parish Website!
I invite you to explore our website as a means of getting to know St. Ann’s and all that we do to serve Christ and one another. While we are well known in Charlotte for having a beautiful church and beautiful liturgy, what’s most beautiful about our parish is our parishioners! We are a family-oriented, thriving parish just south of Uptown Charlotte, filled with people committed to worshiping God through the fullness of our Catholic tradition and serving the poor and needy with charity and compassion. Come join us for Mass and help us as we seek to glorify God, bear witness to His Truth, and show forth His Love.

WEEKLY LETTER
November 17, 2024
Dear Parishioners,
As was mentioned last Sunday, we’ve been paired with St. Lucien Catholic Church in Spruce Pine, NC, in the Sister Parish Program to help those parishes affected by Hurricane Helene. I had a good conversation with the pastor, Fr. Christopher Bond, earlier this week about their needs. Fortunately, St. Lucien’s hasn’t been as devastated as some of the other parishes, although the town of Spruce Pine was hit very hard by the hurricane. As they’ve been inundated already with material goods and supplies, the greatest need the parish has at the moment is for donations to help offset what they’re losing each week in the Sunday collection. While no St. Lucien parishioners died, several have lost jobs and livelihoods.
Although material goods and volunteers are not needed at the moment, Fr. Bond does expect that they may need some help during the winter months. As he updates me on these needs, I will communicate them to you. In the meantime, be aware that we are taking up a monthly second collection for St. Lucien’s for 6 months, beginning this weekend! We will also dedicate one of our Wednesday holy hours each month to pray for St. Lucien’s. Our first holy hour for St. Lucien will be this coming Wednesday, 20 November 2024, from 5-6pm.
Thank you for your support, prayers, and generosity to St. Lucien’s. I know Fr. Bond is very grateful for the help we will provide.
Also, this Sunday is Stewardship Sunday! While the goal of most stewardship programs is to increase gifts of time, talent, and treasure (which we hope to do!), my ultimate hope is that our stewardship program will make us all more grateful to our Lord for His many gifts to us. I also hope you’ll give some thought about how much time and effort you’ll put into prayer in the coming year.
At Mass this weekend you’ll receive a commitment card by which you can indicate how you will make a personal commitment of time, talent, and treasure to St. Ann’s. Please take the time to complete it. As I mentioned last Sunday, our stewardship should be a statement of faith in God: an opportunity to trust in Him. Our giving should also be sacrificial, i.e., it should “pinch a bit” – rather than just come from our surplus wealth. Remember: we can never outdo God in generosity.
You’re welcome to turn in the commitment cards at time by dropping them in the collection basket at Mass or by stopping by the parish office. Thank you for being good stewards!
In gratitude for God’s many gifts,
Fr. Reid
